Outage, throughput and energy efficiency analysis of some half and full duplex cooperative relaying schemes

چکیده
In this paper, we compare cooperative full-duplex (FD) and incremental cooperative half-duplex (HD) relaying, in terms of outage probability, throughput and energy efficiency. We consider a practical model for the FD relay, where selfinterference between transmitted and received signals is taken into account. The FD transmission is based on the well known block Markov encoding scheme. For the HD transmission, incremental space-time cooperation and selection combining based on the cooperative decode-and-forward protocol are considered. Our results show that incremental cooperative HD relaying can outperform cooperative FD relaying, specially if the self-interference is non negligible, achieving a better trade-off between throughput and energy consumption. Performance and Energy Efficiency of Cognitive Full-Duplex under Spectrum Sharing Constraints
In a cognitive radio context under spectrum sharing constraints, a secondary network may transmit concurrently with the primary one as long as the communication of this latter is not compromised. For such an operation, a maximum allowable interference level at the primary receiver is defined, and secondary users (SUs) should take into account this threshold during the transmission in order to a...
متن کاملPhysical Layer Security Using Two-Path Successive Relaying
Relaying is one of the useful techniques to enhance wireless physical-layer security. Existing literature shows that employing full-duplex relay instead of conventional half-duplex relay improves secrecy capacity and secrecy outage probability, but this is at the price of sophisticated implementation. As an alternative, two-path successive relaying has been proposed to emulate operation of full...
متن کاملOutage Performance Analysis of Cooperative Diversity with MRC and SC in Correlated Lognormal Channels
The study of relaying systems has found renewed interest in the context of cooperative diversity for communication channels suffering from fading. This paper provides analytical expressions for the end-to-end SNR and outage probability of cooperative diversity in correlated lognormal channels, typically found in indoor and specific outdoor environments. The system under consideration utilizes d...
متن کاملSNR Thresholds to Meet a Given Error Rate with Practical Cooperative Relaying
Compared to direct transmission, cooperative relaying can substantially decrease the receiver’s Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) threshold to reach a given error rate. These SNR gains can be utilized to improve the error rate, energy consumption, or spectral efficiency of a wireless network. Focusing on practical half-duplex relaying, we derive the outage probability for a simple combining scheme, c...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Wireless Cooperative Networks with Iterative Incremental Relay Selection
In this paper, an iterative incremental relay selection (IIRS) scheme is considered for wireless cooperative networks in order to increase the reliability of transmission. Different from the conventional incremental relay selection which incrementally selects a best relay for only one iteration; the IIRS scheme iteratively applies the incremental relaying and relay selection processes. To evalu...
